Face to Face 2019

For over 20 years, FAB has organized 7-10 day dialogue seminars where Israelis, Palestinians, and Germans listen to each other in profound personal encounters. They share their conflicting narratives and their personal experiences of violence—directly or indirectly through their society or their ancestors. In doing so, they discover their own pain in the pain of „the other“. The film shows that dialogue, the basis for any non-violent solution, is possible. The video offers deeply moving insights into the trialog-work of Friendship Across Borders.

Face to Face 2022

This film focusses on the work with sculptures, a frequently used working method of Friendship Across Borders. The three national groups had each 30 minutes to spontaneously create a sculpture with their bodies on the topic of “National Identity.” The sculptures addressed many challenging questions, the film documents the deep engagement with them.

Along the River

Palestinians, Israelis and Germans meet during a 9-day seminar in Germany, four months after October 7, 2023 and during the ongoing war and destruction in Gaza. The film gives insight into the difficult and challenging process of a dialog between “enemies”. Through listening and empathy, personal suffering became tangible in the suffering of the “other” and the potential for dialog became clearer. This experience opened people’s eyes to the possibility of overcoming the spiral of violence and counter-violence and looking for alternative forms of coexistence based on mutual recognition.
